
Paul V Spiegl M.D. is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a B.S. in Physics and Engineering and obtained a Master of Science degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts in Engineering Physics before entering medical school. While enrolled in medical school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, he earned a second Master of Science degree in Bioengineering before receiving his Doctorate in Medicine. His engineering training provides him with a unique perspective on correcting bone and joint deformities to restore the mechanics and function of the foot and ankle.
Following Medical school, Dr. Spiegl completed an Internship in Medicine/Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and completed his Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Spiegl was the first fellowship trained orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon in Georgia when he opened his practice in 1983. He has over 40 years of experience practicing as a foot and ankle specialist in Atlanta.
SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Technology is Dr. Spiegl's second area of interest. This noninvasive treatment uses low intensity acoustic waves (shockwaves) to stimulate healing and reduce pain. Dr. Spiegl has been a member of the International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment since 2001. He is also a member of the American Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment.
Dr. Spiegl is also interested in musculoskeletal infection prevention and treatment. Dr. Spiegl is a member of three international Invitation-only organizations which are dedicated to diagnosing and treating infections of bones and joints. These are the Musculoskeletal Infection Society, the European Bone and Joint Infection Society and the World Organization Against Infections in Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
In addition to in office visits, telehealth is available for new and established patents as well as for second opinions. In addition to holding a Georgia medical license, Dr. Spiegl is also licensed in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.
