Craig M. Chebuhar, M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Fellowship Trained Spine Surgeon. His specialties include surgical and non surgical care of the adult spine.
Dr. Chebuhar joined the Atlanta Orthopaedic Institute after 18 years with Pinnacle Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Marietta. He grew up in Iowa and attended undergraduate school at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, I.A., graduating with a B.S. with Honors in Exercise Physiology in 1986. He attended medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1990. Dr. Chebuhar completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., and served as Chief Resident his final year. During his residency he did a six month specialty rotation in Pediatric Spine and Deformities at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, S.C. Dr. Chebuhar is fellowship trained in spine surgery, having completed a Fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery through the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, G.A. He has also done a traveling fellowship in artificial cervical disc replacement surgery in Paris, France, as well as a traveling fellowship in adult deformity spine surgery in Bad Wildungen, Germany.
Dr. Chebuhar remains active in both education and research, both as a practicing orthopaedic surgeon and as a spine implant design team member. He has written and published multiple papers on spine surgery and pelvic trauma. He teaches and lectures nationally and internationally about both cervical and lumbar spine surgery, and oversees advanced surgeon training for several large spine implant companies. He has served on the design team for five different cervical and lumbar spine implants, and is named on multiple U.S. and European patents. He is active in cutting edge technology for both surgical and non surgical spine care including limited incision spine surgery, disc replacement surgery, outpatient spine surgery, stem cell treatments, and platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatments.
Dr. Chebuhar lives in Marietta with his wife, son, and four dogs. In his free time he enjoys gardening, antiquing, and fly fishing.
